Bookbinder's Journal Chapter 22

There have been many positive changes for Phillip not only in his practice but in his personal life. There is much more to do, but now he has the tools to recognize more in himself and how change is made. The shop is now a lonely place without Harris; he gathers what is left for him and goes to Hester’s Hearth, a place filled with the memories of their lessons together. Phillip is now recognized and greeted by many of the patrons, a testament to his becoming more active in his community.

The book restoration is complete, but more importantly Phillip has begun his restoration and has learned that it is the process, not the end result, that has the most value. Harris’s words of wisdom were written by me without any forethought. It was like Harris was in my ear and I was merely repeating what I had learned personally from writing this book.

Johnny is rather forgetful, or is he. It is difficult to believe that he “plum” forgot.

I know you have found the key, because you are with me.

I plan to have this book be the first of a trilogy. The next book, because of considerable insistence from my female readers, has the bookbinder meet a young woman. She is a professional striving with the challenge to raise a family and run a business. She lives two lives, her name is Janis. The Roman god of doorways was Janus; he had two faces and looked both ways.

And there by lies a tale…

Thank you for being a part of the bookbinder experience and I am honored that you found these few hours to spend with the bookbinder.

Sincerely,

Brian Beirl ~BB~
